Group Rates
Our greatest delight is to serve and support mission groups of all sizes up to 50 people. From helping your team select the area in which you would like to serve--evangelism, discipleship, construction, helping the schools, medical or dental missions, to almost any service, we can coordinate and put you in touch with the right people and ministries. Our primary area of service is housing, meals, recreational activities and transportation. We can handle it all for your church, youth group, mission team, business or family group.
Special Housing Rates For Groups:
For our special groups the rates are based on "heads in the beds". You simply assign your people to each bed space, for example a king bed, queen or double bed would sleep 2 people, so our rooms with two queen beds would house 4. The dorm type family suites sleep up to 8 people, so you simply assign heads to beds and get the following rates based on your group size:
1 to 10 People-----$50/person/night (low season-May thru Oct.) ----$70/person (high season)
11 to 24 People---$35/person/night (low season-May thru Oct.)----$55/person (high season)
25 to 50 People---$25/person/night (low season-May thru Oct.)-----$45/person (high season)
That is right get 25 folks for your team and the housing is only $25/night or $175 for a whole week per person during the low season. This is not a gym floor or hut on the beach but our air conditioned, WIFI and TV equipped comfortable clean rooms, most with kitchens. While you don't get full housekeeping each day, we'll keep you in clean towels or whatever else your group needs.
Meal Arrangements For Groups:
Here again our goal is to serve you and keep your costs as reasonable as possible. Of course, we have a complete, commercial kitchen with a restaurant that can seat and serve up to 50 folks. But for our groups we have three different approaches for your meals.
Option #1-We buy all of your food and drinks and serve you three meals per day. Breakfast will vary from day to day but includes eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, toast, fry jacks, cereal, oatmeal, french toast, pancakes, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Lunch is a little lighter because groups are often gone but includes picnic sandwiches and chips with drinks, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, fruit and ice tea or drinks. Dinner is always the best and varies from night to night. However, it will always include an entry--Mango chicken, fresh fish, shrimp, barbecue chicken, spaghetti, etc. and two local vegetables--rice, beans, potatoes, broccoli, ect. Fresh bread or rolls and desert are always included with tea, juice or water. Our staff does the clean up and service but help is always appreciated. TOTAL COST IS $15/day/person. If you are in the field or make other plans for any meal, no problem, we simply credit you $8 for each dinner missed; $4 for each breakfast and $3 for each lunch. We are very confident that you cannot eat three health meals/day anywhere in Belize and certainly not in the USA or Canada for those rates. For only $40/day or $280/week, everything is totally taken care of except your actual ministry during the low season, slightly higher for the high season.
Option #2-You dictate all of your meals and food needs and we simply buy everything for you and have our staff cook it for you. You do the serving and cleaning. The cost will, of course, vary but we simply bill your group for all of the actual costs. If at the end of your week you are running low on funds, you can eat beans and rice, like most Belizians. Here we are trying to help those with an even tighter budget.
Option #3-You do it all. We simply rent you the restaurant and kitchen for $100/day and it is all up to you. Because our restaurant is a "guests only" service area, not open to the public, this option sometimes works for very large groups that have their own cooks and servers. It is totally ok with us.
Transportation Options For Groups:
When planning your trip, many find the airfare to Belize City and then to Placencia to be a significant burden. Therefore we would like to suggest the following options, which have been used by groups in the past.
Option #1--Check as early as possible and schedule a Delta, American, Toca or Contenential flight to Belize City. Then catch a smaller plane to Placencia and we will pick you up at the airport. This is the most expensive option but also the easiest.
Option #2--Fly to Belize City, like the above, and rent a car or van and drive down to Placencia. It is a three or four hour drive but well marked, on two lane, paved roads all the way. You actually drive through the capital and along the edge of the jungle and mountains. Many guests enjoy the drive because they experience the tremendous variation in topography we have in Belize. If you have a group of four or more, you'll find the rental, even with the high gas price, far less expensive than the flight to and from Placencia.
Option #3--This option is for those with more time than money and has been used by many of our youth groups. First, fly into Cancun! We have seen tickets for less than $200, round trip. Then rent one or more vans and drive the about 6 to 8 hours to Placencia. The roads are all two to four lane, extremely safe and we have never heard of anyone having any trouble, especially if you drive during daylight hours. The van rental places are familiar with such rentals and have all the border paperwork you'll need. If you take this option, having a Spanish speaker amoung your group helps because, unlike Belize, Mexico is Spanish speaking.
Option #4--For the really adventuresome folks, you can actually drive your church bus or van down to us. It is about a 20 hour drive from the border in Texas to our front door. However, you will need a hand full of pesos to "pay tolls" and even though it is all four lane super highway, most recommend driving only during daylight hours and stopping in one of the major cities along the way. Given the high cost of gas, this option is probably only least expensive for fairly large groups.
There you have it, our group rates and suggestions for keeping your costs as reasonable as possible. Please just give us a call and let us help you save money, have a wonderful experience and a very profitable mission trip.
